DPS proud to share its progress cards
 

The University of Houston Department of Public Safety managers presented their progress cards during the Administration and Finance Leadership meeting.

At the Nov. 6 meeting, Assistant Vice Chancellor/Assistant Vice President for Public Safety and Security Malcolm Davis opened up the DPS presentation by introducing the four DPS managers:

  • David Sarkozi - Manager of Public Safety Systems (not present)
  • Joe S. Mendez - Director of Emergency Management
  • Joe Tremont - Director of Environment Health & Life Safety
  • Ceaser Moore - Chief of Police

Davis presented Sarkozi’s team progress card. This presentation included statistics regarding the campus security systems and access control relating to different entrances to UH buildings, parking lots and garage cameras, along with camera analytics regarding camera monitoring.

Mendez illustrated how Emergency Management envisions creating a resilient university. Statistics presented reflected trainings, workshops, drills and exercises that have been developed, and showed the communication involved at the university and with other external collaborations.

Tremont shared how EHLS is committed to student success in regards to food safety, environmental protection, occupational, research and lab safety, as well as fire and life safety.

Moore detailed some of the requirements in reporting the Clery crimes along with the statistics of each crime. He also shared information regarding increasing visibility of the security officers on campus and other department initiatives.
