UH Fire Marshals Office Gives Back
The Fire Marshals Office of the Department of Public Safety will be transferring 598 fire extinguishers and 28,050 feet of fire hose to the Texas Forest Services Helping Hands Program. This program allows surplus and outdated firefighting equipment to be donated to TFS which in turn provides this equipment to rural fire departments to augment their ability to fight fires in their communities.

The Texas Forest Service is another State of Texas Agency tasked with several responsibilities from fighting wild land and forest fires to incident management of state emergencies such as Space Shuttle Columbia recovery to name a few. According to the TFS website it is mandated by law to "assume direction of all forest interests and all matters pertaining to forestry within the jurisdiction of the state." The Fire Marshals Office is proud of its partnership with TFS and its capacity to assist smaller rural fire departments in the state.
