UH community encouraged to have a plan for parking on game days

By Richard Zagrzecki

As football returns to the University of Houston campus this fall, students, faculty and staff should start making plans now for the impact it will have on parking and mobility on game days.

Seven home games are on the schedule at the new TDECU Stadium, which means thousands of additional visitors will be descending on campus to root on the Cougars. Three of the games will take place on weekdays, including the season opener, which is slated for 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29.

To help everyone understand the impact these home games will have, Parking and Transportation Services has developed a game day parking web page filled with important information. The UH community is encouraged to read it carefully and use it to help them make adjustments. The page details which parking lots and garages will directly be impacted, what roads will be closed, and provides a timeline for when these impacts will be felt. Because the information is subject to change, everyone should bookmark it and check it frequently for updates.

“The entire campus should understand that with thousands of visitors arriving on campus, especially for the three weekday games on the schedule, it will affect our parking and mobility,” said Robert Browand, director of Parking and Transportation Services. “We recommend everyone read the game day parking web page so they can make whatever adjustments they can to lessen the impact it will have on them.”
