Upcoming HUB Forum to provide valuable and useful information

The University of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, University of Houston-Downtown, University of Houston-Victoria and UHPTAC will be co-hosting a Historically Underutilized Business Forum on Wednesday, April 15, on the University of Houston campus.

The goal of the forum is to provide insightful and detailed information about the procurement practices of universities and state agencies, as well as discuss current bid opportunities with certified HUB vendors and potential HUB vendors. State agencies and universities will be the exhibitors and HUB vendors will be the guests.

There is no cost to attend or exhibit. Registration is required for state agency and university exhibitors, and tables are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Event Details

  • Location: Student Center Ballroom, 4100 University Drive. The ballroom is located on the second floor. There will be signage to help visitors find it.
  • Parking: Parking is available in the Welcome Center Parking Garage, which is directly across the street from the Student Center. Visitor parking is on the third and fourth floor. The maximum parking fee is $9.

Agenda

7:30-8:30 a.m. – Exhibitors set up
8:30-8:45 a.m. – HUB vendors and guests check in
8:45-10:45 a.m. – Exhibit hall open
11 a.m.-noon – HUB vendor breakout sessions (to run concurrently):

  • “We’re Alike … Yet So Different” – Describing the differences between doing business with state agencies and with state universities. Panel of state agency and university representatives.
  • “How to Get HUB Certified” – Keisha Gash, statewide HUB marketing coordinator, will provide potential HUB businesses information about HUB certification and answer any questions.
  • “HUB Success Stories” – Meet successful HUB vendors and hear their stories. Panel of HUB vendors.

12:15-1:15 p.m. – Lunch break (lunch is not included, but a list of local eateries will be made available)
1:15-3 p.m. – State Agencies/Universities Breakout Session

  • “Learning & Growing Together” – Guest speaker Paul Gibson, statewide HUB program manager, will lead a paneled discussion alongside other state agency and university HUB directors, sharing information about HUB reporting, state legislation and HUB program objectives.
