About the Office of Sustainability

Mission

Our mission is to foster a culture of sustainability that guides scholarship and operations, advances social and environmental excellence and positions the University of Houston as a Top 50 public university.

Vision

The Office serves as a hub for the University of Houston’s sustainability efforts in order to improve campus operations, engagement, and collaboration. We aim to:

ADVOCATE, ENGAGE, INSPIRE

  • ADVOCATE for sustainable improvements to the University and student life;
  • ENGAGE with students, faculty and staff to implement change;
  • INSPIRE our community by demonstrating sustainable practices.

Campus initiatives include single-stream recycling, tree planting and maintenance, collaboration with student organizations and development of green programs. If your organization or department would like to collaborate on a project, or if you have general sustainability questions, please reach out to sustainability@uh.edu.
