Parking outreach events this semester
By: Bob Browand
Our Parking and Transportation Services outreach and street team has been out full force the last few weeks, welcoming back all of our Coogs and sharing departmental news and updates.
We made the rounds at several events, including the Student Center Welcome Back and the Commuter Student Kickoff where attendees had the chance to win a variety of giveaways, including a free car wash from a local vendor.
A chance to not only interact and connect with the students we serve, these events were also a great opportunity for us to seek feedback about how we’re doing and gauge what aspects of our services most interest the student population.
To gather this data, we relied on a poster board with a variety of PTS topics and encouraged students to use stickers to indicate areas of interest.
The feedback we received is invaluable and will be put to good use, as it helps us better plan and prioritize to ensure we are really meeting the needs of the campus community.
An overview of what we gathered is illustrated below.
If you missed us, don’t worry, there will be several opportunities for you to catch us out on campus this semester.
In fact, we’re hosting a Picnic in the Park on Tuesday, Sept. 13, where we’ll be giving away free watermelon and sharing information about the transportation resources available to our residential and commuter students.
Representatives from the Office of Sustainability and Zipcar will also be in attendance to share information about alternative and sustainable transportation options.
To keep tabs on the outreach and street team, I encourage you to visit and bookmark our new outreach page, which includes an ever-growing list of upcoming events, along with helpful links and information about what to expect at each one.
Looking forward to seeing you all out on campus this semester!
