Students Can Apply for Textbook Loans


University of Houston students who need help with textbook expenses can apply for a $400 loan for the fall semester. The loan can only be used for textbooks at the UH Campus Store located in the Student Center South.

Follow these easy steps:

  1. Log into AccessUH
  2. Select the myUH icon 
  3. Select "Student Financials"
  4. Select "Optional Fees"
  5. Select the term for the loan
  6. Select “Book Loan” (The fee will automatically populate)

Once requested, the funds will be available at the UH Campus Store within a couple of hours. Students who owe any funds from a prior term will not be eligible for the loan.

Using the loan:

  1. Visit the UH Campus Store in the Student Center South
  2. Gather necessary textbooks and go to the checkout counter
  3. Mention to the cashier that you have a textbook loan
  4. The cashier will scan your books and ask for your student ID number and Cougar Card
  5. You will receive a receipt slip just like a credit card purchase and a purchase receipt
The loans must be used no later than Monday, Sept. 16. Please note that there will be a $5 service charge fee. The loan will appear on your fee bill and is subject to the standard payment terms and conditions.
