Food Trucks to Take Over Moody Towers Dining Commons Every Month

Food trucks have been serving up tasty dishes to the University of Houston community at various outdoor locations across campus for nearly six years. Starting this spring, their reach will be expanding indoors.

On Thursday, Feb. 22, the first “Food Truck Takeover” will take place at Moody Towers Dining Commons. On that day, food from the YoYo's Hot Dog food truck will be served at the Global Kitchen station from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The new program will continue throughout the spring semester, with a different food truck taking over the station one day a month.

“We want to make the dining experience more fun and interesting for students and everyone else who eats at the dining commons,” UH Dining District Manager David Riddle said. “This is also a great way to cross-promote our Houston partners on campus and engage more with students. We think everyone will enjoy it.”

In addition, if a student who lives on campus selected a meal plan that does not include Cougar Cash, they may not be able to frequent the campus food trucks as much as they would like. By adding this monthly program to Moody Towers, it will allow these students to experience the food truck fare more often.

A list of all upcoming special dining events and programs can be found on the UH Dining website. A monthly campus food truck schedule is also posted, detailing which trucks are scheduled for the various outdoor food truck pads.
