Pancakes and Fun on the Menu for Upcoming Finals Mania

Finals Mania Spring 2017University of Houston students are invited to enjoy a plate of pancakes and turkey sausage and hang out with friends at Finals Mania.

The twice-a-year event, which happens at the end of the spring and fall semesters, will take place Monday, May 1, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion at the M.D. Anderson Library. The popular tradition, which started in 2008, provides weary students a much-needed break from studying for final exams.

This semester, approximately 1,700 students are expected to attend. Some will start lining up an hour beforehand so they can be among the first to be served. In addition to the pancakes and turkey sausage, there will be iced coffee, orange juice and a variety of snacks. Students will be asked to show their student ID.

The event will officially kick off when members of the UH band perform several songs from the second-floor balcony. Shasta, Sasha and the Cougar Dolls will also be on hand.

After the band plays, the food line will open. Students can have plain, blueberry or chocolate pancakes with a variety of toppings, including strawberries, whipped cream, butter and syrup.

“Students who have never attended Finals Mania before don’t know what they are missing,” said Leighanne Dean, marketing coordinator for Auxiliary Services. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to just relax and have a good time with friends. And the food is great!”

Finals Mania is sponsored by Auxiliary Services, Dining Services, UH Libraries, Canteen Vending and Coca-Cola.
