New Board at Cougar Woods Details Sustainability Efforts

Green Threads Board photoUniversity of Houston Dining Services has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability, as detailed by a new presentation board at Cougar Woods Dining Hall outlining the Green Thread program.

UH Dining has teamed with the Office of Sustainability and utilized many tactics to become a more environmental-friendly program. Responsibly raised, grown and sourced products are used. Waste minimization is also prioritized by reducing, reusing and recycling. Practices are implemented to conserve natural resources and ensure operational efficiencies and the transportation programs continually reduce fuel usage and emissions.

Cougar Woods in particular has 74 percent less waste per patron due to its food management practices, and is using 21 percent less electricity due to its usage of solar panels and its dependence on natural light.

A complete summary of sustainability efforts can be viewed on the Green Thread board at the dining hall.
