First-Ever Auxiliary Services Fair to Showcase Services

Faculty and staff will get the opportunity to learn more about the different services and programs offered through Auxiliary Services during the department’s upcoming inaugural fair.

Scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 14, in the M.D. Anderson Library’s Rockwell Pavilion, the event will showcase several areas, including the University Copy Center, Parking and Transportation Services, Barnes & Noble @ University of Houston, Dining Services, the Office of Sustainability, the Cougar Card office, and Printing and Postal Services.

Other groups from the division of Administration and Finance also will be on hand for the event, with employees from UHDPS and Facilities Management set to attend.

Representatives from each department will staff tables to answer questions and provide information about their specific service offerings. Light refreshments will be provided and fairgoers will have a chance to win door prizes.

“From parking to dining, Auxiliary Services has a lot of moving parts,” said Rosie Ashley, manager of the department. “We want people to walk away from the fair with a clear picture of who we are and what we do for the campus community.”

While attendees gain a better understanding of the various services available to them, they also will have a chance to learn more about the new building access project that will require members of the UH community to swipe their Cougar Cards when entering buildings after hours.

To give people some hands-on practice with the new keyless process, a swipe machine identical to the ones being installed across campus will be on site. Employees from the Cougar Card office will have information about how to acquire a new ID for individuals who have lost their cards or simply need an updated one.

“With swipe technology being installed campuswide, having an updated, functional Cougar Card is more important than ever before,” said Ashley. “We invite faculty and staff members to come out and ask questions about how this new system will affect them; we’re here to help make it a smooth transition.”
