What student would pass up the opportunity for free food and textbooks? We think the answer is plain as day: None!
This isn't a dream nor a cruel joke. The opportunity is a real one, existing in the form of two scholarships that are being offered: The Meal Plan Scholarship and the Barnes & Noble Textbook Scholarship. The window of opportunity won’t be open too long, however, as the application deadline for both is in mid-February.
Meal Plan Scholarship
UH Dining Services offers these awesome scholarships, which provide recipients a meal plan for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters. A total of eight will be awarded.
Winners will receive a 24/7 Gold Meal Plan. This plan provides students unlimited entry into the two dining commons (Moody Towers and Cougar Woods), as well as $300 Cougar Cash that can be spent at any of the retail dining locations on campus. It also includes 10 guest day passes and one meal exchange per day. Both residential and commuter students may apply for the meal plan scholarship.
Barnes & Noble Textbook Scholarship
The UH Bookstore is operated through Barnes & Noble. The company, just as it has in past years, will once again be awarding scholarships.
The scholarship provides students $400 for the fall semester and $400 for the spring semester to use for purchasing textbooks at the UH Bookstore.
This is a renewable scholarship award for a period of two years (based on two semesters per classification level) for a maximum award of $1,600. Any funds not used will be returned to the Barnes & Noble Textbook Scholarship account.
What are the eligibility requirements?
For both scholarships, students must meet the following criteria:
Academic Excellence Scholars
SAT score range 1200-1290
ACT score range 25-28
3.5 GPA or above
Transfer Excellence Scholars
