halal food iconDining Services is making it a little bit easier for students, faculty and staff who follow a halal diet to identify where they can find such food within the campus food truck program.

Just recently, special icons like the one shown to the right have been added to the food truck page and the food truck schedule that identifies specific trucks that offer halal food items.

The halal icon was added to the description of each truck. Currently, three trucks in the program have halal offerings: Coreano’s (all items), and D’Lish and Luv Me Tendars (halal chicken).

Not just at the food trucks

Halal food can also be found in other food locations on campus.

There is a station in Moody Towers Dining Commons that is dedicated solely to providing halal fare. During the spring and fall semesters, Moody Towers is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but the halal station is not open that entire time. Its hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and then again from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In addition to the halal station, all chicken served in Moody Towers is halal, except for the chicken tenders.

In the Student Center Satellite, Tandoori Nite serves Indian cuisine. All of the meats it uses are halal certified.

Dining's commitment

The dining program is committed to providing food that meets the needs of our diverse campus community. The icon identifier is just one way to raise awareness about the meal options that are available to students, faculty and staff.
