I. Course Description
A quantitative introduction to mechanics, gravity, wave and fluid.
II. Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to 1) understand the fundamental
ideas of the topics listed above and to 2) solve quantitative problems of those topics.

"Physics", by James S. Walker, 3rd Edition
IV. Course Content
Chapters 1-15.
V. Course Structure
Lectures plus questions and answers with discussions of homework problems.

Diagnostic Exam(5%), Homework(10%), MidtermI(20%),MidtermII(25), Final(40%).
Typical grade boundaries: A to F.
Policy on grades of I(Incomplete): A grade of I(incomplete) is only awarded under
extraordinary circumstances such as personal illness or a death in the immediate
family. Documentation of either situation must be provided.

Read your book before coming to class. Do your homework; it prepares you for exams.
Homework is due in class, at the beginning of class. Late homework will be accepted
only in extreme cases. You may not use your cell phone as your calculator during exams.

CASA Testing Center, 222 Garrison Gym, 9am-6pm, May 30-June 2. Reservation can be
made at http://casa.uh.edu. Have your student ID. Know the course name and section
number. Record your score.
