ASSIGNMENT # 9
Due November 12
Book:
Problems 13-1, 13-2, 13-5, 13-8 & 13-9
Lab:
1. Use the dependent variable and the (first) key independent variable that you plan to use for your final paper and regress the independent variable on the dependent variable. Interpret the results.
2. Now pick a second independent (continuous) variable (e.g., ideology or partisanship) and add it to the regression. Regress the two independent variables on the dependent variable. (Again, include a constant term in the equation.)
3. Test the hypothesis that the coefficients are significantly different from zero at the five percent level.
4. Interpret your results.
5. Now add a third independent variable to your model. The third independent variable should be a binary variable (e.g., race, gender etc...). Regress the three independent variables on the dependent variable. Again, interpret your results and indicate if the variables are statistically significant.
