Summer 2010 Southeast Asia Study Abroad

Study Abroad

Southeast Asia Study Abroad is designed to give students an opportunity to learn about and understand the countries of Southeast Asia. Learn about Vietnam’s, Singapore’s, Malaysia's, and Thailand’s cultural and business contexts and trends by interacting with local and international people, businesses, NGOs, and US embassy officials.

Tentative Itinerary:

  • From May 26 - June 21
  • Thailand: Bangkok 
  • Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur
  • Singapore
  • Vietnam: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Da Lat, Nha Trang, and Saigon

        A tentative interary will be provided soon.

Cost:

  • $2400 for the land tour, including all country-to-country/domestic transportation, most meals, and 3-star hotel.
  • $1200 for the international flight: Depart from Houston to Singapore and depart from Saigon/Vietnam to Houston.

Course Credits:

  • Earn up to 6 credits from: INTB 4397 – The Political Economy of Asia and INTB 4397 - Economic History of Southeast Asia.
  • These courses can be counted toward the Business Major, the Global Studies Minor, and/or International Area Minor in Asia.  Or these courses can be petitioned for INTB 33551 or INTB 3352/3353.  For more info on this, please contact Prof. Long Le at lsle@mail.uh.edu.
  • UH tuition is not included in the program cost.
