John Dye, Son of Vincent Dye

John Dye - born 1749 in New Jersey and died in April 1798 in Prince William County, Virginia. He appears on Personal Property Tax list A in Virginia. He married Mary Hixon and they had at least 5 children:

  1. Sarah Dye married a Mr. Lee
  2. Daniel Dye
  3. Lydia Dye married Benjamin Pridmore

  4. James Dye was born March 17, 1782 in Alexandria, Fairfax, Virginia and died on March 25, 1827 in Monroe, Ohio. He married his first cousin,Elizabeth Dye, the daughter of Daniel Dye. When the Dye clan moved from Virginia about 1799, Elizabeth and James followed. This family is listed in the 1810 Ohio census in Grandview Township, Washington County, in the portion later to become Monroe County. The had three boys and two girls in 1810 (this does not fit with the data that follows as two of the children are listed as being born in Alexandria, Virginia, after the family moved to Ohio):

    1. Amelia Dye born in 1801 in Alexandria, VIrginia and married Isaac Guyton
    2. John Dye was born in 1803 in Alexandria and died on September 24, 1844 in Monroe, Ohio. He married Ary Ridgeway, September 3, 1826 in Monroe, Ohio
    3. Mary Dye, born 1805 in Alexandria, Virginia and married Joseph Brown
    4. Daniel Dye born 1806 in Alexandria, Virginia married Ann Dye(?)
    5. Susannah Dye born about 1808 in Alexandria, Virginia and married David Buoy
    6. James Dye born July 15, 1810 in Alexandria, Virginia and Married Maria Guyton
    7. Sarah Dye born March 24, 1813 in Alexandria, Virginia and Married Eri Stine, March 7, 1833 in Monroe, Ohio
    8. George W Dye born on March 11, 1814 in Monroe, Ohio and married Jane Brown
    9. Nancy Dye was born in 1817 in Monroe, Ohio and married James Brown
    10. Frances Dye was born about 1819 in Ohio and married Roseberry Mitchell
    11. Abigail Dye was born about 1821 in Ohio
    12. Elam Dye was born about 1823 in Ohio
    13. Elizabeth Dye was born in 1825 in Ohio and married Robert Amos

  5. John Hixon Dye was born about 1786 and married Ann Hixon Johnson, February 16, 1812.
