UH Classrooms

The UH Classroom Committee - C2 - was appointed by the Office of the Provost and charged with devising plans and recommending policies to ensure the efficient and effective use of UH classrooms.

Charge to the Committee :

  1. Recommend Immediate solutions to problems students and faculty find in their classrooms.

  2. Recommend policies and strategies that lead to a systematic way in which classrooms can be maintained, refurbished, and remodeled.

  3. Review recommendations made in 1997 by the University of Houston Undergraduate Council related to UH Classrooms and propose strategies for implementation.

Classroom Status

It is apparent that we are dealing with a rather broad spectrum of conditions across campus. With respect to learning environments, conditions range from woeful to conducive.

  1. A Memo To Provost Trueba and Vice President Boyd
    March 15, 1995. Signed before May 1, 1995. The first project (seating in AH1 and Engineering D2) was completed in December, 1995 and the second (AH 2) in December, 1996.

  2. Report of the Ad Hoc Classroom Committee
    To Provost J. Ivancevich and Vice President James Hale - October 10, 1996. The change in administration (summer, 1996) created a situation in which the Trueba and Boyd agreement was forgotten. The Ad Hoc Classroom Committee urged the Provost and the Financial Vice President to honor the Trueba and Boyd agreement.

  3. Report to Sharon O'Neil
    This report and the previous report of the Ad Hoc Classroom Committee were never acted on. The project for 1996 was completed but no funds were received for the 1997 or 1998 projects.
