Presidential Movies

My sub genre lies within the genre of Drama but also crosses ever so slightly into the realm of Action and Comedy. The first presidential movie was released in 1944 while Franklin D. Roosevelt was in office. World War II was going on and the Great Depression was ending. A movie called Wilson hit the theaters.   It cost  $3,000,000 to make and was well received at the movies. The next movie to come out was State of the Union. and that was it until 1964 when The Best Man. came out along w/ a whole slew of presidential films such as Kisses For My President also in 1964 and and Seven Days in May (1964). From Frank Capra, one of the most renowned directors we got State of the Union in 1948. And thanks to him others were inspired to make movies about the president. People like Robert Rossen who made All the Presidents Men in 1976. Other films include Ivan Reitman's Dave, Rob Reiner's The American President, and also the action thriller, Air Force One starring Harrison Ford as the President. I did not include such movies as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington because they were not directly about the President.
