Surfing Genre

The first movie to hit the surfing scene was the movies " Gidget" in 1959. The surfing fad was just really getting in California at the time, which prompted  a new genre of film to be made. Another film that came out during this time was " The Endless Summer", which took people around the world with two surfers looking for waves. Also at this time surfers were picking up the camera and filming themselves at the beach for other people to watch. This films did not include a plot, but only people do outrageous stuff with music in the background. The fad of surfing help this small sub-genre expand to be nation wide at this time.

These were some of the movies come out around the early sixties. The surf genre has continued with the making of movies such as " Lilo and Stitch" and " Blue Crush" . The surfing genre also help start of the skateboarding and snowboarding genres, which came around about ten years later.
