The N.E.I.C.P., directed by Dr. R. Stephen Warner, Professor of Sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is a multidisciplinary project on religious institutions of new immigrants in the United States. Between 1994 and 1996 it provided training workshops of ethnographic research and supported twelve research fellows. Among the twelve ethnographic studies of diverse religious groups throughout the country, three are on Asian American Christian churches.

My NEICP chapter is entitled "Tenacious Unity of a Contentious Community: Religious and Cultural Dynamics in a Chinese Christian Church [in the U.S.]" in the book Gatherings in Diaspora: Religion and New Immigration, edited by R. Stephen Warner and Judith Wittner, Temple University Press, spring 1998.
