New Students Information

Hello, new UH Chinese students, welcome to HOUSTON!

We are the Friendship Association of Chinese Students and Scholars in University of Houston, and we are glad that you will join us in the future and we will try our best to help you to be familiar with the new environment as soon as possible.

There are several orientations and suggestions below, which are the first things you will encounter after you come. Please remind that a lot of students will come and we (all volunteers and limited) can't help you everything, so please follow the suggestions as much as possible, THANKS.

If you can't find your own friends in Houston, here is the suggestions:

1. Pick-up: If you need pick up, please tell us your detailed flight number, arrival time, name and department

you are going to join in.  We hope you can come separately  in a small group (no more  than 5), because

it is difficult to find so many available cars on one night!

                Contact: facs@charlie.tcs.uh.edu

2. Apartment to Live: No one can rent any room for you in advance, because you need to sign lease by

yourself, but we will do our best to find a temporary place to for you before you find your own Apartment.

    So you can

                  1)  go to the bulletin board on our website and try to find a roommate.

or, 2) find someone to be your roommate who is also a new student, and you can rent an apartment

                      together immediately after you come.

3. After you come, find your department and try to get contact with Chinese students there, and they can tell you

what you need to do and what you should do (different Dept has different rules). And come back to our website

            to get useful information instantly.

Tips for Living (生活小指南)

Important: Since you will need a lot of help after you come and we FACSS members are limited to help you everything (living and shopping in future), we strongly recommend you try to find if you have any friends/Chinese school alumni in Houston. It will be much better and convenient for you. (your future study, working and living)
