Lesejournale
Deutsch 2331/2332
-
Your reading journal (Lesejournal) should be a separate notebook or binder
(in order to keep the pages together) that you use only for making
notes, comments, questions, and a vocabulary list to accompany the readings
(or videos or audio tapes) assigned in class. You need to make an
entry
every time you read (or see, or hear) an assignment, and you
must bring the journal to class each day.
-
It is best not to put class notes or grammar exercises in your journal,
since you might have to turn it in when you need it to study.
-
Do not use the journal for your weekly Aufsätze.
-
Vocabulary: You are building a list of new words that you want
to learn. Write down the new words in your journal. Make
the list complete in order to be truly useful, that is: a) nouns should
include gender (der, die, das) and plural form; b) verbs should indicate
if they are strong or irregular, or if they have a stem vowel change in
the present tense, or if they take "sein" as their auxiliary verb in the
perfect tenses. Also note the simple past and past participle forms;
c) adjectives/adverbs should be listed without endings so that you
know what the "real" word is and what simply belongs to the adjective ending.
-
Commentary: The other part of your journal is for responses and
questions that arise while doing an assignment. React to the assignment
with your thoughts. Keep in mind that you only should write down
things that are interesting to you and that you might want to see discussed
in class. This way, you help set the agenda for class room discussions,
not just me!
