Graduate College of Social Work Writing Support Program

First-year GCSW students participate in an eight-week program of weekly writing consultations with a designated WID writing consultant, focusing on making students aware of the writing conventions within the field of social work and assisting students with clearly conveying their ideas. At the request of GCSW faculty, the Writing Center provides multiple APA Style and Effective Citation workshops open to all Social Work students (not exclusively those participating in the writing program). Student progress is monitored throughout the semester by periodic writing consultant reports, and at the end of the writing program, consultants submit a student evaluation form for each student that assesses their writing progress.
