Services
A wealth of services are available at the University of Houston and in the larger Houston community. Here in the Women's Resource Center we have numerous brochures from campus departments and community agencies. Having problem with a landlord or an unexpected pregnancy? We provide confidential referrals to students, staff, and faculty. If we don't know, we will find out for you.
Library
The WRC maintains a small library, which includes books, DVDs, pamphlets, and magazines. The materials cover a range of topics from mothering to pregnancy to body image to women in the workplace. Most are available for checkout or you can sit in our comfortable living room-like setting and read.
Lactation Rooms
There are four designated lactation rooms on the University of Houston campus open to students, staff, and faculty.
1. The first location is in the Office of Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity, Student Services Building 2. Participants may park in the metered spaces in the back of the building. In order to reserve a time, please call Janice Horridge at 713-743-8835. This room is available from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2. The second location is at the Women’s Resource Center (WRC), in the University Center Satellite, Room 7. There is no need to reserve a time, walk-ins are welcome during normal business hours (see our home page for current hours). There is also a commerial grade breast pump available.
3. A third location is available at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, Suite 350. For more information call Sara Brown, (713) 743-4613. Hours are 7am until 5pm.
4. A fourth location is in the Women's Studies Program offices, room 624 in Agnes Arnold Hall. Hours vary, so please call (713) 743-3214.
Also, the UH Child Care Center also has a nursing room for moms with babies enrolled at the center.
