About the Work/Life Program
The University of Houston’s Work/Life Program is dedicated to helping and encouraging faculty and staff with personal and professional development, enrichment, and overall health and well-being.
The benefits offered by UH and services provided by on-campus and off-campus vendors are highlighted within this web site. We encourage you to check back frequently as new benefits and services may become available.
Blaffer Art Museum Director and Chief Curator Claudia Schmuckli and Director of Human Resources Sandy Coltharp invite you to a very special brunch-time opening with Venezuelan artist Miguel Amat to celebrate his first solo museum exhibition, Dark Pool Knight Vision.
The exclusive members’ preview this Sunday, October 19, 2014, from 11am to noon includes complimentary mimosas and brunch fare, and an introduction to the exhibition.
Amat a former Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Core Fellow and Rice University Duncan Artist in Residence, combines found and fabricated materials and imagery to raise questions about the role and representation of opacity and elusiveness in relation to the politics of repression in Venezuela and the interdependence between the military and financial industry in the United States. Dark Pool Knight Vision includes more than 20 works in photography, collage, décollage, sculpture and video.
This invitation is part of a collaboration between Blaffer Art Museum, UH’s Work/Life Program, and UH’s Human Resources as they team up to offer all faculty and staff complimentary memberships to Blaffer. As the University of Houston’s contemporary art museum, Blaffer offers a variety of free programs and events that you as members can take advantage of.
We look forward to seeing you! For a full list of free programs and events visit www.blafferartmuseum.org.

You may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least three days. Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone immediately. You could get help in hours, or it might take days. In addition, basic services such as electricity, gas, water, sewage treatment, and telephones may be cut off for days, or even a week or longer.
