CougarNet Accounts

CougarNet accounts give access to, and file space on, university Windows computing resources.

Access to resources is granted based on the account owner's affiliations with specific university colleges and divisions, including majors and minors, enrolled courses, and campus employment.

Those with accounts in other Windows domains should check with their college/division support staff regarding whether or not they are participating in CougarNet.

Virtual private networking (VPN) access is also available using CougarNet account logins. VPN is available to UH students, faculty, and staff to help connect to computing resources outside of UH while using mobile computing devices with wireless Ethernet cards (network interface cards) and to connect to computing resources on the UH network while using computers from off campus.

Password Expiration

Passwords on CougarNet expire after 90 days.

As a security measure, computer account passwords expire on a regular basis and must be changed. It is the responsibility of the account owner to make the password something that is easy to remember but difficult for someone else to guess.

Password Resets

Lost or forgotten passwords can be reset. Computer account owners can request password resets online or by contacting the IT Support Center at 713-743-1411. IT Support Center staff will verify account ownership using the Cougar 1Card, the official UH identification card.
