UH Wellness is committed to creating and sustaining a campus culture free of sexual violence. Through our sexual violence prevention and education endeavors, we seek to empower campus community members to join us in this mission. More information on our direct programs and services, are listed below. UH Wellness is also open and available to work with student organizations, academic departments, and staff offices to continue to create dialogue around this issue in the form of an original program, workshop, or training. Please contact UH Wellness at (713) 743-5430 or email@example.com for more information.
UH Wellness annually coordinates a variety of educational programs designed to increase awareness and prevention of sexual violence in college communities, and support victim/survivors.
Each April, UH Wellness also coordinates Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This week brings together a large array of student organizations and campus departments – from Veteran’s Services, the LGBTQ Resource Center, to the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life – to discuss and bring light to this critical issue. The week sees a collection of programs, lectures, trainings, documentaries, and workshops open to all of campus. For more information or to express interest in participating in 2016, please visit: www.uh.edu/wellness/saam/.
Finally, UH Wellness works collaboratively with campus partners on other sexual violence education programs. These include “Take Back the Night” and “The Hunting Ground” with the Women and Gender Resource Center, and “Walk a Mile In Her Shoes” with the Student Government Association, among others.
Campus community members are also encouraged to visit us in suite 1038 of the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Educational materials covering a wide range of topics – from healthy relationships, consent, stalking and dating violence - are available for free for visitors. Professional staff are available to speak directly with students regarding a variety of health and wellness issues, as well as provide referrals to various campus resources.
