  • Case Book BL Harley MS 2143 fo. 27v. The sheriff to keep money according to the order of the court otherwise to attach the party. John Sidley and Thomas [Deal?] Stubbs: the court ordered Sidley to pay unto Stubbs several sums of money at several days which he refusing to do, and the court willing to have the orders of the court duly executed, ordered that the sheriff should levy the same of the said Sidley and if he refused to pay the same that then he should apprehend him by attachment which was directed to him for that purpose to bring him in to answer for his contempt. Hillary 15 Elizabeth. A writ of execution awarded to perform the orders of the court. The said Sidley being in the Fleet for contempt of the orders of the court was committed close prisoner, and the court ordered a writ to be directed to the sheriff enjoing him upon a pain of £200 forthwith upon the receipt thereof to levy the said sums of the lands, goods, and chattels of the party to the use of the plaintiff and immediately upon the serving thereof to deliver the same over to the said Stubbs as his own. Michaelmas 16 Elizabeth he paid the money and submitted himself (kk)
