Sir William Hall, knight, plaintiff; Thomas Ellis, defendant: for a libelous letter written and sealed, subscribed with his name, the defendant punished for this, who would have avoided it by saying it was a private letter sealed and subscribed with his name and that the defendant never did publish it, yet the court did punish it, for that it contained matter of infamy and might have provoked the plaintiff to have sought revenge by shedding of blood and quarr[elling].
