  • STAC 5/F24/26 - John Freeman & John Esson churchwardens of Moulton, Lincs. Churchyard of Moulton is large, and has trees growing in it. Rights of churchwardens to sell these trees every few years for the benefit & repair of the church. Vicar claiming the wood belongs to him.(dk)
  • STAC 5/F1/35 - Interrogatories to be ministered on behalf of John Freman & John Esson & others complts against Robert Leache, clerk one of the defts, include: What preaching have you used to your parishioners since being their minister, and having house, glebe etc to the value of £40 have you boarded yourself & wife in an ale house. Did you at any time play with false cards, and did you win thereby or by other subtle devices at the cards. When your cosoininge dealings were discovered, an action of the case was to be brought against you, by whose instructions was this stayed. What speeches did the plts use against the Bishop of Lincoln. Was the key of the churchyard door delivered and the woods in the said churchyard sold by your consent.
