- Case Book BL Harley MS 2143 fo. 26v. The like extortion in a common informer. John Crapnell, a common informer, convicted upon an information at Mr Attorney’s suit for that he within five years space had exhibited 70 informations against diverse upon penal statutes and yet brought none to trial or fine but only one, and therefore had compounded with the rest as it was presumed; to make restitution of £8 for composition of one proved against him and to acknowledge his offences at the assizes and never to be informer again.
