Richard Exhurst of Ash vs. Peter Stacy of Tonbridge and Stephen Ferrer of Staplehurst, CP40 Easter term 1508. Debt. [1] I am interested in the life and career of the plaintiff in this case. Kant – Ric[ard]us Exherst alias d[i]c[t]us Ric[ard]us Exherst de Assey p[er] attorn[atum] suu[m] op[tulit] se iiijto die v[er]sus Petrum Stacy nup[er] de Tonbregge in Com[itatu] p[re]d[i]c[t]o Clothmaker alias d[i]c[tu]m Petrum Stacey nup[er] de Tonbregge Clodmaker de pl[ac]ito q[uo]d reddat ei duodecem libras Et v[er]sus Steph[anu]m Ferar nup[er] de Stapilherst in Com[itatu] p[re]d[i]c[t]o yoman alias d[i]c[tu]m Steph[anu]m Ferrer de pl[ac]ito q[uo]d reddat ei quinq[ue] marcas quas ei debent et injuste detinent etc. Et ip[s]i non ven[iunt] Et p[re]cept[um] fuit vic[ecomiti] q[uo]d distr[ingat] eos etc. Et vic[ecomes] modo mand[at] q[uo]d ut[er]q[ue] eor[um] distr[ictus] est per catalla ad valenciam sexdecim denariorum etc. Et manu[captu]s p[er] Joh[ann]em Wren et Rob[er]tum Men I[de]o ip[s]i in m[isericord]ia etc. Et sicut prius distr[ingantur] q[uo]d sint hic in octabis s[anc]te Trinitatis etc. Kent – Richard Exherst otherwise called Richard Exherst of Ash by his attorney presented himself on the fourth day against Peter Stacy lately of Tonbregge in the abovesaid county, clothmaker, otherwise called Peter Stacy lately of Tonbregge clodmaker, concerning a plea that he render to him twelve pounds, and against Stephen Ferar lately of Stapilherst in the abovesaid county, yeoman, otherwise called Stephen Ferrer concerning a plea that he render to him five marks, which they owe and unjustly detain etc. And they do not come. And it was ordered to the sheriff that he distrain them etc. And the sheriff now sends that each of them was distrained by chattels to the value of sixteen pence etc. And was mainperned by John Wren and Robert Men. Therefore [let ] them [be] in mercy etc. And as before let them be distrained that they be here on the octaves of holy Trinity etc.
