Rowland Hinde, armiger, plaintiff; Ludwicke Grevill, armiger, et al, defendants: forgery of an acquittance to defeat the plaintiff of a debt of £300 owing by the defendant to the plaintiff for which the defendant was convicted according to the statute of 5 Elizabeth and ordered to pay the plaintiff the £300 and cost and damages according to the statute having no other remedy. Easter 13 Elizabeth fo. 12. The consideration whereof the 2 Chief Justices having taken they did report in open court that the plaintiff by the statute was to have £900 more for his damages beside the £300 due debt, whereof the court allowed and so adjudged to pay, as by order.   • STAC 5/H70/10 - Case Book BL Harley MS 2143 fo. 55r. Witnesses refusing to be examined by commissioners being precepted and ordered to come up to be examined at their own charges the plaintiff being in forma pauperis. Hinde, in forma pauperis; Sir John Savage et al, defendants: the plaintiff prayed subpoena ad testificandum against witnesses to appear and to be examined in court at their own charges for that they were precepted to be examined by commissioners and refused, but the court would not suffer him to bring them up at their own charges, being in forma pauperis, but ordered that the sworn of Chester should examine them.
