Madeley-Market Researchers

From Waalt

WAALT seeks to forward collaborative research. We cannot predict or dictate how this will occur, but we can facilitate it. Collaboration can take place at any number of different levels.

Registration: Registration will allow the listing of those documents a researcher has searched thoroughly for documents on the given town and thus avoid duplication of effort. Registrants may also provide affiliations (if any) and their email addresses to allow contact between those with similar interests. Researchers can register as a) those pursuing solo projects and merely listing the documents they have covered, b) those already attached to a group and seeking new members, or c) those seeking to be attached to a group. There is no administrative oversight to registration: it occurs simply and solely by entering your name in one of the cells below.

Registrants can classify themselves as any of the following:

Group Organizer: Researchers may put themselves forward as a group organizer. Since groups will be composed of researchers of different skill levels, an organizer can be expected to have the skills to assist other members and to be regularly involved in the research. People who are organizers can function in that capacity, drop out, and resume activity. Groups can function with or without an organizer or with one or more organizers. They can also usefully divide and restructure themselves. The one commonality should be that members list the documents they have covered so that their research effort will not be duplicated. A researcher who wants to establish a group may list the focus of the group and the skill level expected, but should list at least an email address for contact.

Group Members: Researchers may contact an organizer or a group to join, but, since this is about collaboration, there is no right to join a particular group. If there is no established group in your interest area, you may start the group without being an organizer, simply by creating the cell and entering your name, affiliation (if any), interest area, and contact information. Others may then choose to contact you and join the group. The group may never have or need an organizer.

Consultant: A researcher who cannot for any reason participate actively in a group may register as a consultant to become available for queries from researchers, either in a particular group or generally for that city or town.

The administrators of WAALT are not arbitrators but can and will advise on request.

Provision of contact information is vital for establishing or joining a group.

Registrants not seeking membership in a group: (Enter name or identifier, perhaps contact information, certainly documents examined (specifying thoroughly or in some degree.)
