New HoustonPBS Studio Shares Local Expertise Nationwide

March 4, 2010

HoustonPBS has inaugurated a new insert interview studio to provide live video feeds nationwide via the Vyvx fiber-optic transmission network. Vyvx is a nationwide switched fiber-optic broadcast quality television transmission system. With this new studio, HoustonPBS can provide live outbound interview services for news, public relations and governmental, educational and corporate entities.

The studio will enable an interviewee to converse on camera with a news organization or other entity from a distant location. The interviewee can hear and talk to the interviewer as their video and audio is sent via the Vyvx fiber optic transmission network. This new system will allow local experts from the Houston and Southeast Texas to be drawn upon by outlets such as the PBS NewsHour, Nightly Business Report, CNN and others.

“As the fourth largest city in the country and the energy capital of the world, we feel the Houston region deserves the opportunity to take its place on the national stage,” said John Hesse, Houston PBS general manager. “We’re proud to provide a platform to share the talent and expertise which exists here with the rest of the nation.”
