Traffic near the north end of Calhoun Road will be redirected due to construction of the new student lofts building, effective Saturday, Sept. 15 through August 2009.

Entrance 19 Road, in front of the UH Law Center and Parking Lot 19A, will be closed beginning Saturday, Sept. 15. The bulk of Lot 19A, however, will not reopen, as it will become the permanent home to the new Calhoun Lofts building.

The alternate route to access the west side of campus from Spur 5 will be Elgin Boulevard, Entrance 18. To access the north end of Calhoun Road, detour via Spur 5 and use University Drive Entrance. UH Department of Public Safety personnel will be on hand the first few days of next week to direct traffic.

Students who park in that Lot 19A are urged to locate alternate parking early in the semester and determine alternate routes. Free satellite parking is available at Texas Southern University on Scott Street at Rosewood, across from Frenchy’s Chicken. UH shuttle buses will service this lot. Students wishing to park near the C.T. Bauer College of Business are urged to park in the new parking garage. Alternate parking sites include Lot 20A and 20C across Calhoun Road from the business college, Lot 4A at the corner of Calhoun Road and Wheeler Avenue and Lot 8A on Cullen Boulevard across from Cullen Oaks Apartments.
