The University of Houston Law Center has moved up 10 places in the latest rankings of top graduate schools compiled annually by U.S. News & World Report.

The Law Center is now tied with five other schools at No. 60, compared to last year when the Law Center was ranked No. 70 along with six other schools. Two of the school’s specialty areas – Health Law and Intellectual Property & Information Law – were again cited as among the best in the nation, both ranking in the Top 10.

The Law Center was also ranked in the Top 50 institutions in the magazine’s Law School Diversity Index.

“Our substantial improvement in the rankings shows we are on the right track to reconciling perception and reality – and I firmly believe the reality is that we are a great law school,” said Ray Nimmer, interim dean of the Law Center. “But this is an underestimate of our true quality. Our goal is and always has been not to simply improve rankings, but to continue to build on our existing quality, and to let the world know about it.”
