CANTU CARES FOR COUGARS

Bernice Cantu, office assistant 1 in Residential Life and Housing, takes great care of students living in Cougar Place, according to her nominator.

Cantu’s many duties include checking residents in and out of the dorm, handling various student requests and complaints, maintaining records and checking on the welfare of residents.

“Bernice understands that the needs of residents may require a staff member to look beyond the face value of particular policies when trying to provide good customer service,” her nominator wrote. “For example, residents are required to clean their own room and do their own laundry. However, when one resident became ill and was hospitalized, she arranged to have his room cleaned and bedding laundered.”

Award recipients receive a framed certificate and a $1,000 check.
