VOLCY COMPUTES SUCCESS

Paying attention to minute details is what makes Mary Volcy such a remarkable asset to the University of Houston and has earned her the Staff Excellence Award.

The financial assistant 2 in the Office of the Bursar is the liaison for the Department of Athletics. She is responsible for ensuring the application of athletics financial aid to student accounts — more than $1 million.

“Through Mary’s tireless effort, Athletics is afforded consistent insulation from mistakes that would result in NCAA violations,” wrote T.J. Meagher, assistant athletics director for compliance and special projects, in nominating Volcy.

“It is a great honor to be recognized for the hard work that I do for faculty, staff and students,” said Volcy, who has worked for UH since 1980.

Award recipients receive a certificate and a $1,000 check.
