CHAMPAGNE’S PASSION FOR UH IS CONTAGIOUS

An admiring colleague says Darcie Champagne could be the “poster girl” for the University of Houston, thanks to her enthusiasm for the institution and her commitment to “growing” its reputation.

While “poster girl” is not yet an official UH honor, the Staff Excellence Award is, and it has been bestowed upon the Office of University Marketing director.

One of Champagne’s accomplishments is managing the creation of the university’s first broad-based alumni communication plan.

“She has led her team to many accolades, yet every time, she credits her team rather than taking the thank yous and recognition for herself,” a peer wrote in support of her nomination.

“It’s easy to be passionate about a place like the University of Houston,” Champagne said. “There are so many outstanding individuals doing great work here. To be recognized among them is an incredible honor.”

Award recipients receive a certificate and a $1,000 check.
