MCFARLIN BRINGS ENERGY, DEDICATION TO CLASSROOM

Brian K. McFarlin, assistant professor of exercise physiology and nutrition in the College of Education’s Department of Health and Human Performance, is a meticulous scientist who brings his passion for research to his classes. He has earned the Teaching Excellence Award for teaching in the core curriculum.

“He sacrifices his time and energy to make the learning experience of paramount importance," said Alexander Hutchison, a research fellow.

McFarlin is a mentor to many of his students as they maneuver through difficult coursework and professional opportunities.

“I work on custom PowerPoint presentations, make use of flash technology and other interactive media because it is an opportunity to engage and train the next generation of teachers and researchers,” McFarlin said. “This collaboration with students has improved the quality of the research that I am presently doing.”

The award provides $5,000 and a trophy to faculty members who demonstrate excellence in teaching a core curriculum course.
