The Houston Alumni Organization once again is offering UH-themed

MANDATORY
TRAINING FOR FACULTY, STAFF
Faculty and staff are required to complete the online UH System
Professional Development and Training program. All mandatory

STAFF COUNCIL EXTENDS NOMINATION
DEADLINE
Staff Council has extended its deadline to submit nominations
for membership elections to 5 p.m., Friday, July 6. Send forms

INCREASED STATE MATCH FOR
RETIREMENT PLANS
The 80th Texas Legislature increased its match to the Optional
Retirement Plan and the Texas Retirement System of Texas from
6 percent to 6.58 percent, effective Sept. 1. For more information,

UH OFFERS SUPPLEMENTAL RETIREMENT
PLAN
Faculty and staff can establish a ROTH 403B, as opposed to a
traditional 403B, to save for retirement. Roth allows employees
to deposit after-tax dollars into a retirement plan whereas
the traditional 403B is for pretax dollars. For more information,

ORGANIZATIONAL
CHANGES ANNOUNCED
The University of Houston System Board of Regents has appointed
Jim McShan as interim UH System vice chancellor and interim
UH vice president for administration and finance. The appointment
comes at the request of John Rudley, interim UH System chancellor
and interim UH president.
SUMMER ENROLLMENT FOR BENEFITS
BEGINS IN JULY
Summer enrollment for benefits will run from July 23 to Aug.
17. During open enrollment, faculty and staff can add or drop
dependents, elect or increase life and disability coverage and
change dental plans. They also may renew Health or Dependent
Care Flex accounts. Faculty and staff must submit evidence of
insurability to add or increase long- and short-term disability
coverage and group life and dependent life insurance. Call the
