Holly Hutchins
TEACHING EXCELLENCE AWARD
HUTCHINS ENGAGES STUDENTS
IN QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE
No student goes unnoticed in Holly Hutchins’ classroom.
The Teaching Excellence Award recipient engages students through
interactive classroom methods and innovative curriculum design.
Most importantly, she employs three key elements in her teaching
philosophy: engage, change and student development.
Hutchins, assistant professor of human development and consumer
sciences, engages students by connecting with them on an emotional
and intellectual level. Hutchins’ teaching
style also allows for change by promoting self-discovery and transformation.
Finally, she is committed to student development and makes herself
available as a mentor and adviser.
“I believe that teaching is both an honor and a privilege
that carries great responsibility,” she said.
The award is given to faculty in recognition of outstanding achievement
in teaching. Recipients are honored with a trophy and a $5,000
prize.
