The University of Houston System Board of Regents has appointed
Jim McShan as interim UH System vice chancellor and interim
UH vice president for administration and finance. The appointment
comes at the request of John Rudley, interim UH System chancellor
and interim UH president.
“I am delighted the regents approved Jim’s interim
appointment,” Rudley said. “He possesses in-depth
knowledge of the Division of Administration and Finance, which
will prove invaluable in the months to come.”
McShan will assume Rudley’s previous responsibilities
and will continue as associate vice president for finance.
“The campus community should not see any changes in
the Division of Administration and Finance,” McShan said.
“I plan to maintain Dr. Rudley’s vision and the
goals that he has established for the division, so it should
be a seamless transition.”
Some of the offices and departments under the division include
human resources, facilities management, public safety, parking
and transportation services, postal services and Cougar 1Card.
Rudley also has called on David Irvin to aid him as interim
special assistant to the chancellor/president.
“I will retain my positions as associate vice president
for plant operations and chairman of the UH Emergency Management
Committee,” Irvin said. “Some of my directors may
need to take on additional duties, but we’re fortunate
to have a great team that works well together.”
Janis Newman, executive associate to the vice chancellor/vice
president for finance and administration, will continue to assist
Rudley, but in the new role as interim executive associate to
the chancellor/president.
Other organizational changes include moving the Office of Special
Events, which was under the auspices of the president’s
office, to the Division of University Advancement. The president’s
business office now reports to the Division of Administration
and Finance.
