Next month, the University of Houston will launch a new online
service that makes parking registration easier, while reducing
the amount of paper transactions.
The Department of Parking and Transportation Services will
offer online parking registration for faculty and staff from
June 1 through July 31, according to Bob Browand, department
director.
The system will allow faculty and staff members with a university
employee identification to register from any computer with Internet
access.
“We decided to implement the online registration system
to streamline the work flow and the amount of paper, as we currently
process between 4,800 and 5,000 registrations manually,”
Browand said. “Not only will the new online registration
system save time, it will speed up the registration process
and eliminate potential data entry errors.”
College and department business administrators will still administer
the registration process and distribute parking permits to faculty
and staff as in the past, Browand said.
“All faculty and staff who are going to register for
parking with their departments or colleges must use the online
service,” he said. “Faculty and staff who prefer
not to register online can apply for parking individually after
Aug. 1 at the Parking and Transportation Services office.”
Faculty and staff who register online and don’t elect
to use payroll deduction to pay for their permits must print
their confirmation and come to Parking and Transportation Services
office to pay and finalize their registration by July 31. Payments
will be accepted after July 31. However, those permits will
not be included in the college and department packets of parking
permits.
In addition to online registration, the department also offers
the ability to pay and appeal parking citations online.
