MANUEL: THE HEART OF CREATIVE SERVICES


Betty Manuel isn’t a writer, photographer or graphic artist. Still, she’s often regarded as the backbone of the University of Houston’s Office of Creative Services.

For 16 years, Manuel served as secretary for the office, where she coordinated the Creative Services’ Service Center. She was its primary contact and oversaw its many administrative functions such as handling vendor contracts, and preparing vouchers, requisitions and journals. Just recently, Manuel became the office’s financial coordinator.

“She is the epitome of professionalism and volunteers her time to the university’s endeavors without hesitation,” wrote one co-worker in a letter of support. “Without her attention to detail and knowledge of the industry, coming to work every day would be just that…coming to work.”

The Staff Excellence Award includes a $1,000 check.
