Stuart E. Dryer, John and Rebecca Moores Professor and chair of
the department of biology and biochemistry, has been recognized
for his contributions to life sciences across the globe. Now, he
has received the Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award for
the professor rank.
His nomination form states that Dryer “was a major force
in research and faculty hiring decisions in the department that
led to its having the largest increase in citations of any life
sciences department in the world.”
A colleague from the National Institutes of Health stated that
Dryer is “an outstanding investigator who has achieved an
enviable international reputation and is recognized, respected and
cited for the creative and important contributions he has made.”
Three Awards for Excellence in Research and Scholarship are given
each year to faculty members who have achieved a substantial record
of outstanding research, scholarship or creative activities in their
field. Each award carries a $5,000 stipend and a plaque.
