It’s been said that one person’s junk is another
person’s treasure. Soon, that adage might shift to reflect
a person’s junk as another person’s endowed scholarship.
On Friday, Jan. 27, the University of Houston and Dell Computers
will team up to turn recycled computers and electronics into
scholarship dollars.
UH Business Services will be collecting old and non-operable
computer equipment from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Building 13 of
UH’s University Business Park. The department then will
recycle these goods through Dell who will pay UH for the resale
value of the collected items. These funds will be combined with
scholarship money donated by UH’s vending machine provider
Canteen to create an endowed scholarship.
“This is a perfect opportunity for the campus community
to turn its old computer clutter into funding for student scholarships,”
said Emily Messa, director of business services. “We hope
that everyone supports this event so that we can reach our financial
goal of $3,500 and endow this scholarship for our students!”
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to recycle any of
the following items:
