Houston Public Radio, KUHF 88.7 FM raised a record $750,096,
exceeding its fall campaign goal of $650,000 by approximately
15 percent.
“We are grateful for the individual and corporate donors
who gave so generously,” said John Proffitt, the station’s
CEO and general manager. “Their support is a clear vote
of confidence in Houston Public Radio’s mission. These
donations will help us plan for the future.”
During the station’s eight-day, fund-raising campaign,
nearly 2,500 new and 3,007 renewing contributors pledged.
Companies that offered challenge grants included Lifestyles
Unlimited; Anadarko Petroleum; Compass Bank; Vinson & Elkins,
LLP; Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw, LLP; and Reliant Energy.
Approximately 88 percent of the station’s annual revenue
comes from the local community. The remainder comes from a federal
community service grant, miscellaneous services and interest
on the station’s fund balance. The station receives no
direct funding from either the state of Texas or the University
of Houston.
